SWIMMING ACCESSORIES: WHAT TO CHOOSE?

If you are doing regular swimming workouts and want to diversify your practice, then accessories will be your new best friend.

 

Between fins, floats and paddles, there are a variety of solutions available to you!

SHORT OR LONG FINS?

If you don't know which ones to choose, this article will help you to decide and, most important of all, tell you how to use them.

 

Short fins: ensure a good kicking frequency and make aerobic workouts more demanding. The movement is very close to "natural" movement and helps to focus effort on core stability and an abs-glutes workout. Silifins correspond perfectly to this type of use!

 

Long fins: ensure greater physical effort and a more intense glide feeling during use. An amplified kicking movement is then felt. They require muscular strength and generate a full leg workout. Trainifins are therefore more suitable.

A PULL BUOY TO WORK OUT YOUR ARMS AND TONE YOUR LEGS

First of all, do you know what a pull buoy is? For those of you who never use this accessory and have no idea what it is, here is a little definition along with a picture:

"A pull buoy is a kind of float used in swimming lessons or training sessions exclusively to work arms when doing the crawl and the back, arms and the movement of the pelvis when swimming breaststroke and butterfly. It is called a pull-buoy because it is a buoy that you pull! It is designed to work the first part of the movement of the arms, the moment where the swimmer pulls the length of the upper body, before the push originating from the thighs."

 

 

 

There is the classic pull buoy and the pull kick which acts as a float and a swim board. This is the perfect accessory for working the upper and lower body during the same swimming session.

A SWIM BOARD FOR FLAWLESS KICKS

During your workouts, kick boards can be very effective. Indeed, with this accessory, you will be focusing on the lower body as well as your abdominals.

 

To do so, you can perform different types of exercises that work different parts of the body at once (abs, thighs, glutes, etc.) and stop you from getting bored.
Breaststroke or crawl kicks, on your stomach, on your back, on your sides, etc.
