Surprise guaranteed with the eggbeater push. BOOM!

The body jumps out vertically, as high as possible above the water. It is the underwater movement of your legs in triple time that allows this:
1- The legs are bent like a frog, and are paddling one against the other towards the inner leg
2 - Scissor movement
3- Push with your legs stretched.
How to improve these different steps: The artistic swimming champion, Virginie Dedieu, gives all her advice.

HOW TO START AN EGGBEATER PUSH IN ARTISTIC SWIMMING:

Virginie Dedieu (V.D.): (Begin completely underwater. Submerged. To really feel the suction and buoyancy at the surface of the water. Next, let yourself be lifted naturally to rise to the surface.”

HOW TO THEN POSITION YOURSELF TO CARRY OUT THIS SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING MOVEMENT CORRECTLY:

V.D.: “Once you break the surface of the water, bring your knees as close to your shoulders as possible. This is when you should really move your legs quickly. This is very important. Also make sure to align your buttocks with your upper body. The more compact you are, the quicker the unfold will be and the higher you will go.”

ANY TIPS FOR A PERFECT EGGBEATER PUSH?

V.D.:  You compress, accelerate, push with the help of a scissor movement with your legs. You can even do a second scissor movement to try and stay above the water for a bit longer. If you do this you will seem even bigger! Also try to stretch your head up, it’s not only your legs that should be working”

Yin yoga, hiking, cycling,… (OK, on an electric bike sometimes ;-) ): I prefer slow sports. My goal is to combine well-being, escape and leisure. I also find all the artistic disciplines just marvellous.
My 10 years of gym dancing probably explain this! But feeling the enthusiasm of the passionate athletes I meet is what I like most. And then sharing their enthusiasm in the tutorials and tips I write here.
